Thanksgiving 2010

Yeah, yeah, I know I'm behind.  I'm finally getting around to posting about our Thanksgiving in D.C.  Mr. Boy left with Grammy & Papa on Friday night to drive there.  Everyone thought they were crazy for drivng an 18 month old but he did great!  Mom sent me a picture of him from every state & I will post them sometime.  They're basically the same picture over & over just in a different state!  And one of them is of him eating cheese.  :)  Courtney & I flew out Tuesday night.  Something was going on at the airport so we ended up sitting outside the airport for over an hour waiting for them to pick us up.  It took over an hour to go about a mile & a half.  But they got us and everything was good. 

We got up Wednesday morning and went to some museums.  Cael did pretty good there too.  We went to the air & space museum and he slept through some of it.  We went to the natural history museum and he got pretty fussy so we ended up leaving.  We ate dinner that night with Bill.  

Thursday was, well, not a good Thanksgiving.  Courtney woke up in the middle of the night S.I.C.K. and Joy got up that morning feeling the same way!  Oh yes people, you are right, we didn't have Thanksgiving!  We were in our beautiful penthouse with Joy in the master suite sick, mom, dad, Cael & I in the living room perfectly fine and Courtney in the other bedroom sick.  It was a pretty miserable Thanksgiving for everyone.  Cael did get to have fun in the gigantic bathtub though so that was good!  And we got to watch the Cowboys play so that was good.  Next year we plan on having a much better Thanksgiving day!

Friday morning everyone woke up feeling much better but we still decided they should take it easy.  Mom, dad, Cael & I went downstairs to have some breakfast & look around.  It was so darn cold!  Especially since we were right on the water.  Cael & I had to take some pictures with some different things around the harbor of course!

Okay - here is our penthouse!  We were on the top floor.  If you count in from the left we are the 4th - 8th windows.  It was so cool!  We were across the street at the "lighthouse" looking at our windows.  Joy & Courtney were in there and we called them to wave at us. 

We went out to eat Friday night because we all needed to get the heck out of Dodge.  Joy still wasn't feeling 100% and Courtney pretty much felt like he had a hangover but we did it anyway.  Here is my lush son....that kid is always drinking!

Friday night when we got back to the penthouse Courtney & Cael were goofing around on the mattress.  Yeah, Cael & I slept on a mattress in the living room every night.  I couldn't take a chance of either one of us getting sick!  Cael saw me with the camera and kept running up and posing & smiling at me!  I took a bunch of pictures & he even gave me his cheesey face!!  Here are just a few of the pictures.

Saturday morning Cael found our "plane" crackers and decided he needed to eat them.  They were crackers Courtney & I got on Tuesday night that were in the shape of a planes.  He looked so cute & innocent in his Superman pjs with his crackers

Joy, mom & I went for a stroll around the freezing cold harbor Saturday morning.  I love that you can see the huge Christmas tree shadow!  

We went out to eat at a chili place on Saturday night that is pretty famous.  We went upstairs to eat & this was in the hallway!

And this is how he spent the entire flight from Milwaukee to KC!  He was so good the entire flight!!



Cael is 18 months old today!

How did this happen?  It seems like just yesterday you entered our lives.  I was looking at your monthly pictures the other day and I can't believe how much you've grown!  You are so handsome and you have the most amazing personality.  One night I was very upset and I was crying.  You walked over, patted me on the leg and then hugged me.  Things are just better when you are around!  You love people and you don't know a stranger.  (In a few more years this may be a problem but we'll work on it then!)  You are so smart!  You are loving books now.  You even turn it right side up if we hand it to you upside down!  You love to answer questions when people ask you....even if it's on tv.  You are being so good at wrestling tournaments this year.  I know how hard it is since you want to move around so much. 

You fill our lives every day with laughter.  You know how to make everything better, no matter how bad they may seem.  You give us a new way to look at life.  We now know how to appreciate everything we have & we know that no matter how difficult things get in life they could always be worse.  There is nothing we can't handle because of you.  Because of you we have learned how to be selfless and we know now how selfish we were before you.  We know how to love unconditionally because of you.  You have strengthened the bond between your mommy & daddy...even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes.  We know how to work through things and stick together for you.  We are an amazing little family! 

We can't imagine our lives without you.  You are a blessing and a miracle.  Thank you for everything you have taught us.  We can't wait to see what you will teach us next!

18 month pictures

I think of all the pictures we've had taken by Amy these might be my favorites!  Cael loves being outside so he was very photogenic while we were there.  My favorite pictures are the ones that aren't posed.  I especially love the one of Cael on Courtney's shoulders!  Enjoy!  :)
