Fun times!

Over the weekend our cousins came up for a visit.  We had a lot of fun hanging out with them!  Friday I came home & Travis, Nicole, Curtis, Alta & KayLynn came up.  We grilled for the first time of the season :) on Friday night.  Saturday we got up and went to the park to play!  Cael & the girls had so much fun!  It was cold but they had no idea!!

We were going to go to Chuck E Cheese on Saturday night but there were too many people there.  Then we went to the T-Rex restaurant at The Legends and it was an hour + wait.  We looked in to Dave & Buster's but it was the same kind of wait!  So instead we came home & had pizza.  It was nice just to hang out again!  The kiddos got to all take a bath together too which was fun.  KayLynn is always smiling!!!
Cael is now a camera hog!!  When he sees a camera he will stand up and yell CHEESE!!!!  He cracks me up!  They had so much fun playing in his room!

We got up Sunday morning and called the T-Rex place to make a reservation.  I'm glad we did too because it was the same hour + wait!!  Cael really didn't eat because there was too much going on.  Curtis & Daddy took him around to see what was aroud and he liked it....until the T-Rex moved!  Apparently he didn't like t moving!
After eating the Noon family made a dinosaur and we took Cael outside.  Cael isn't much into his stuffed animals so we decided he didn't need to make one.  We took him outside so he could get rid of some energy..ha!

This kid is so freaking cute!!!  Even with drool hanging off his chin!

My Pity Party

Welcome to my pity party.  Yes, I'm going to throw one for myself right now.  This is my spring break and I am spending it at home with my love Cael.  I am loving being at home with him!  And that is why I am throwing this party.

I love my life.  I love my job.  I love my students & would have no other job in the world.  That being said - I am so envious of 99% of my moms.  They get to stay at home!  Today Cael & I had a picnic lunch on our back deck with the dogs.  He barely ate & I didn't care.  He was having fun being outside in the fresh air.  Then we walked to the park about a mile from our house & played for about an hour before walking home & putting Cael down for his nap.  Why can't every single day be like this??  Why do I have to work?!?!  Why can't I spend the time with my son doing things that he loves?!?!

He's asleep now and I'm wiping down walls that I've taped off so Courtney can paint next week when he's on spring break.  Is my house completely clean?  No, but I don't care!!  I've had a great week with my son!  If I were a stay at home mommy I would clean the house & have dinner on the table for my husband when he gets home.  It's really just not fair.

I'm not completely crazy.  I know that there would be days when he would drive me insane with whining & crying but I would love every insane minute of it!

Okay - I think I'm done now.  It's out of my system.......for now......

Can we fix it??

Before Cael was even born we went shopping at the Ft. bi-annual garage sales.  People who are moving (and some who aren't) sell TONS of stuff there!  Everyone goes.  You have to be in line early to get on post if you want the good stuff.  I'm talking like 5:00 in the morning early!!  Well, we got Cael a Craftsman tool chest filled with tools the May before he was born in June.  We finally put it up a few weeks ago when he was trying so hard to help Mommy take down his toddler bed.  Last night Daddy & Cael were trying on his goggles to protect his eyes.  Granddad Calvin would be so proud!!

Cael Ryan

Cael was just being his normal cute self the other day so I had to take some pictures.  :)

Diaper Cakes!

So last week we had double diaper baby shower at my school.  I decided that instead of just giving diapers we should make diaper cakes to give.  I bought all the stuff and then Cael & I tackled the project together.  It really wasn't that difficult to do - once I got the first one done.  So here are some pictures we took while making the cakes.  Yummy!!

Step 1: Roll up & rubber band diapers.  The 1st cake took 7 diapers & the 2nd took 71 diapers.
Step 2: Stand up a first row of diapers & tie them together.
Step 3: Stand up a 2nd row & tie them together.
Step 4: Stand up your 3rd row & tie them together.  This is the absolute hardest part of making them!
Step 5: Start your 2nd tier by standing up a 1st row & tying them together.
Step 6: Stand up your 2nd row & tie them together.
Step 7: You need something to help make the 3rd tier.
I hot glued a little bottle on top of the shampoo bottle.
Step 8: Stand up your only row on the 3rd tier & tie them together.
Step 9: Decorate your cake!  I decided to cover the skinny ribbons with fat ribbons.
Then I used the skinny ribbons to tie decorations onto the diapers.  I decided to make
the decorations simple so it wouldn't look crazy.
Cael was trying to figure out how the diapers wer rolled up.
He gave up & decided to just help mommy make them stand up!  Such a good helper boy!!

Don't they look delicious?!?!  I am really excited about this fun, cute, new baby shower gift!!

Who's the doggy now, sucker?!?!

Untitled from Kelly Marsh on Vimeo.

I just found this video of Cael from the PRHS home wrestling tournament.  You'll notice my son already knows when to whine for what he wants and then turn the tables to make you look silly!  We are going to have our hands full....oh wait, we already do!

Home Management Binder

Okay so I'm home with a sick Cael :( and I should be doing something productive, right?  Instead I'm sitting in the chair with a headache (due to a lack of sleep, I'm sure!) checking out a bunch of blogs & websites about getting organized.  I know what you're thinking.  Kelly?  Organized??  Those 2 things don't go together!!  Well I'm trying - or getting ready to try at least.

I've looked at several blogs where they have a home management binder and I've decided maybe that will help me out.  I already started a binder for my bills as a way to try to keep them more organized.  Now I've decided to add more to it.

So I think I've decided what sections I will have in my binder: 1) Emergency information; 2) Contacts; 3) Cael or family information; 4) family calendar; 5) Menu planning; 6) Cleaning schedule; 7) Bills (the easy one that I already started - yay me!).  Oh!  And in the very front I will have a pencil pouch that has red pens, pens, white out, stamps, a calculator and anything else little I think I'll need.  As far as the cleaning schedule - we'll see what happens.  I don't know if I can stick with cleaning schedule, it may just end up posted at the front of the notebook.  Who knows!

I hope this will help me get organized.  I really want to get more organized in our house & just in my life in general.  I would love to tackle my classroom too but I'm taking baby steps!  I'll try to post pictures of the Marsh Family Binder.  Wish me luck!

Wrestling is over!

So our lives should be back to somewhat normal, right?!  If that's what you think then you don't know the Marsh family very well!  Wrestling ended on Saturday and baseball started on Monday.  Our trip to state wrestling was, well, interesting.  I suppose interesting is one word for it...

We got up Thursday morning to head to Hays.  The plan was for me to go to the school for my class picture and Courtney would load up the Blazer while I was gone.  When I got home we would head to Easton for the pep rally for the boys and then head to Minneapolis to go to Rock City.  Should be an easy day, right?  Ha!!  I went to the school and had a beautiful picture taken with my kiddos and then came home.  Courtney had the Blazer loaded & got Cael loaded while I changed clothes.  We got into the Blazer and......the damn thing wouldn't start!!!  Like not at all.  Like no turning over.  Like no trying.  We got a click but NOTHING ELSE!!  Are you kidding me??  So after about 20 minutes of trying & a lot of cussing by Courtney I sent him to Easton in the van while the neighbor came over to help me.  Yeah, damn thing still wouldn't do anything!  So Courtney drove home...with the 4 other cars from our caravan following him (yeah, a little embarrassing!) to load everything into the van.  So we got on the road at least 30 minutes late.  We drove normal til about Lawerence and then had to slow down because it was a little slick.  Around Topeka it was dry for the most part.  Then we got to Abilene & the van in front of me spun out.  Like in a circle on the interstate!  After that we decided to slow down, way down.  We finally made it to Hays and didn't even try to go to Rock City.  For the last 80 miles or so I drove 45...that's a lot different than my normal driving!  We met my cousin Jacque for dinner that night at our hotel and things were fine.  Friday we got up and made it to the college & things went pretty well.  The boys wrestled really well that day.  Travis & Nicole and the girls came up.  Cael was less than nice to his cousins!  He refused to share anything.  If AJ even looked at his snacks he threw a fit!  That night I decided he didn't need to be at Hays anymore.  I think he didn't like how different the set up was from all the other tournaments.  He couldn't really run around at all unless he was out in the walking area so he couldn't see wrestling.  Sharon & Wilbur met me, Cael & Curtis in Russell that night to take Mr. Boy.  Friday night we had a great dinner & had fun hanging out with everyone.  Saturday we got up and went to the college & watched Jared get 5th place.  It was a pretty good wrestling season for the Rams!  Saturday night we drove to Minneapolis in okay weather.  It was nice to not have to drive all the way home.  We got up Sunday and went to see Calvin & Donna in Salina.  Then we drove home...in the FOG.  Not a little fog.  Mucho, mucho FOG!  We were so glad to finally be home!

I like cheese balls!

We walked into the kitchen on one of our snow days to find this.  Such a big boy!

That got us me out of school for 3 days & Courtney for 4.  It was nice to spend the days with Cael but we were going a little stir crazy after a while.  Things are finally starting to melt!!

Cael's new bed!

We've figured out that Cael sleeps much much better if he is in a bigger bed.  He was in his toddler bed but he was waking up at least once every night.  We started putting him down on our guest bed which is a Queen size.  Surprise!!  He sleeps all night!!!  So we decided it was worth it to buy him a new bed.  We ended up going with a bunk bed that is a twin on top & full on bottom.  We don't even need to worry about buying a twin size mattress because he won't be up there for a good long while.  We paid for the bed but it won't be in until next week so here's a picture of what his new bed is like!

Blogger Awards!

I have to cheat & steal this idea from Katie. I saw it on her blog (that she saw on someone else's blog) and thought it was cute. Here's how it works:

1. Thank & link back to the person who awarded you.
2. Tell 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 10 great bloggers.
4. Contact those bloggers & tell them about the award.

About me:

1. I love keeping up my blog. There, I said it. I love telling people about my crazy, insane life with my hubs & son. I don't even care if people think it's crazy! If you know about my blog then you are obviously reading it....must not think it's too crazy I you're taking the time to read it, right?! I love being able to keep people posted on Cael's little life and occassionally Courtney & I do something that makes it on here, too. :)

2. I love my husband. Courtney Marsh drives me insane & makes me want to rip every hair on my body out sometimes but he is mine. I have practically grown up with him (and taught him everything he knows!) and am a better person because of him. If you don't know our story, here are the Cliff's notes: We met in 7th grade. We were very close friends - I even gave him girl advice! Courtney was so short and would dance with me at school dances so he could look down my shirt or dress (true story!). We started "going together" on October 25, 1994 to get his cousin Ashley to leave us alone. I told Ashley I would stay with him for 2 weeks....it's been a long 2 weeks! We went to college together at ESU, graduated & got married a week later on May 25, 2002. Love you, Bubby!

3. I love my son! Cael Ryan was born on June 10, 2009. Yes, we waited a long time before we had a baby! He was a well thought out plan and I would say our plan worked out perfectly! He was small when he was born (5 lbs. 13.8 oz) but with a big personality. He was the best baby ever!! He rarely cried & was so laid back. He continues to be laid back & is growing in to being a curious, smart, fun, loving, empathetic, wonderful toddler. I cannot imagine my life without him! Love you, Mr. Boy!

4. I love Cowboys football! I don't see this as a problem at all....my husband has a different thought on that. I love them no matter what their season looks like. Case in point - this year they pretty much sucked & I am still cheering them on. I have their star tattooed on my back (don't judge me!) and I have Cowboys blankets out the wazoo. I love, love, LOVE them! And....my hubs wrestled against my favorite player, #41 Terence Newman, when they were little in Kids Federation wrestling. Newman grew up in Salina, KS.

5. I (secretly) love watching my husband coach wrestling & baseball. Cross country - not so much. I love how the boys respond to him & how they treat our son. They love having Cael around. They even accept him into their "circle" when they aren't wrestling. The parents love him, too, which makes tournaments much easier. I am so comfortable aroun the wrestling group of boys & parents and look forward to spending Saturdays with them. I am (again secretly) a little sad when the season is over. :(  As far as baseball goes - I mainly love it because Cael & I get to be outside.  I think this season will be a lot of fun with him able to walk (run) all over!

6.  If I weren't a teacher I would want to be a photographer.  I love to take pictures!  I would love to have a big fancy camera but I really don't need one.  I don't think I'm that great at taking pictures but I still love it!

7.  I (secretly) enjoy running & I want to be good at it.  I am trying!  I did not run at all last week when we had our snow days.  I am starting again Monday bright & early with my 2 mile run.  I really want to complete the 4 mile run in April & I want to do good!!

And now on to the awards!

1. Katie
I have to give an award back to Katie.  She gave it to me (thanks Kate!).  Katie was there with me when I really started this thing.  I had made 2 entries before we moved to PR.  The night that we finally got internet we both started working on our blogs.  I love that we can keep in touch through our blogs.  I feel like I already know Hollyn because of her blog!  And Cael loves to see pictures of his girl Hattie Jean.  We love the Dills & we miss them very much!!

2. Scott
Scott is one of Jizzle's good friends from DC that we have become close with.  Scott came to see us in PR with Joy & we had a blast!  We love getting to see him when we go visit Joy.  Scott is an amazing cook!!  I love to get recipes & ideas from his blog.

3. Jason
Jason is another of Joy's good friends from DC.  He & Scott are Cael's Guncles and he loves them!!  I love to read Jason's blog & get ideas about good movies, TV shows, books, games, etc.  When he & Scott came down to PR we had a blast dancing around, drinking & eating.

4. Tricia
Trish is Courtney's cousin that lives in Texas.  She is really the reason I started blogging.  She & her hubby moved to England and she started a blog while she was there.  She was pregnant with Zekers & it was great to be able to keep up with how her pregnancy was going & then life with baby.  She has kept the blog up & they now have Ezekiel, Daisy & the latest, Elijah.

5. Nicole
Nicole is Courtney's cousin also.  She is married to Travis.  She started her blog a while ago & sometimes has trouble keeping it up to date.  I suppose she gets a pass because she does have 2 kids and works full time.  Excuses, excuses!!  I really enjoy when I get to spend some time with Nicole.  It's nice to be with another working mom that's involved in this crazy family I married in to!  Cael loves her 2 girls Alta & KayLynn.

6. Misty
I have only met Misty one time.  She is one of Kate's good friends from college.  Courtney & I drove to Iowa to watch Allyn wrestle in college nationals & we got to meet Misty & her family for lunch.  We feel like we've known them forever!  They are the nicest family & we hope we get to see them again!!

7.  Jean
**I am starting to steal awards from Kate!!  I think I need more of my peeps to start blogging!!**
Jean is Kate's mom.  She is one of the neatest women I've ever met!  She is 62 years old & RUNS.  Not here & there runs but RUNS.  She just ran a marathon at Disneyworld!  Yes, you read correctly, a marathon.  26 miles!!  I'm 32 years old and am having to really work to run 4!  Crazy!!  We've met Jean & John in Puerto Rico when they came to visit and had so much fun!  After meeting Kate's family it's easy to see why she is so loveable!  ;)

8.  Sheila
Sheila is another of Kate's friends.  Kate is much better at getting people to blog than I am!  I really need to work on people....  Anyway!  Sheila came to PR so we have met her also!  She is a newlywed & spends a lot of time outdoors with her hubs.  Even in the freezing cold of South Dakota!

9.  Marilyn
I taught at MacArthur with Marilyn.  She is a fun lady!!  She has since moved to Texas (I'm still not happy about it!) and is teaching there.  She hasn't blogged lately but I'm sure she will soon....right, Marilyn?!

10.  I, unfortunately, do not have a 10th award.  People!  Please work with me!  Someone, anyone, start blogging!

I loves me a Cricut!

If you don't know what a Cricut is I feel sorry for you!  A Cricut is the neatest die cutting machine thingy ever!!  I have seen them on TV for at least the last few years and have always wanted one.  I had heard of some moms at my school that had one & I was jealous. For at least the last 5 years there was a wrestler's mom that made poster board singlets & put the boys' names on them.  They were always hanging on the gym wall for the home matches & the boys loved them.  She even made one for Cael last year if you recall.  Well, her son graduated last year so there was noone to make the singlets.  Believe it or not, moms started asking about them this year.  I got a pattern from another mom & asked a mom at school to make the letters for me using her Cricut.  She did (thank you Gayla!) and I put them all together.  That little machine does awesome work!!  I told Courtney that I really need one because then I can make the singlets every year and not have to worry about having to ask someone to make them.  It worked and I am getting one!  I know for sure I will now that we've heard amazing, fabulous, crazy news about our tax refund this year.  And we refinanced our house & got a great rate & drop in our mortgage payment.  And we don't have to make a payment til April 1.  And we'll get escrow money back.  Yep.  Mama's happy!!!  Here's a pic of the singlets I made.  The poster was made at school by a student.  Pretty cool!

Here's the thing.  I want to be a crafty person!!  The truth is though - my sister got the crafty, artsy gene.  Here's my attempt at being creative for KS day last week.

In case you can't tell it's a sunflower.  It worked for Kindergarten - they loved it!  And we discovered that Cael likes twinkies!
