More Cael pictures!

I just thought he looked adorable when I picked him up from daycare this day. Look Joy....he's a little DJ!

A picture for Katie!!

Even with his eyes closed in every picture he's still adorable! They had one of Clint Bowyer's cars at our Dillons on race weekend. Apparently the sun was a little too bright for Cael.

He thought a candle jar was a drink. At least it wasn't burning! Doesn't he look like the Joker?

Everything is a phone for this boy! Like mother like son! :)

Honestly...is there ANYONE who wouldn't buy this little Cael puppy?

Mowing with Daddy...sort of...

Daddy was outside mowing so Cael decided the carpet needed mowed too. :)

Cael loves the Cowboys...just like Mommy!

Yes, I know it's not an actual Cowboys outfit but it looks like one. And it has Emmitt Smith's number! And he looks so happy!! :)

Uncle Travis & Aunt Elizabeth's Wedding - 9/11/10

I am finally getting around to posting pictures from Travis & Elizabeth's wedding!! Almost a month late but better late than never! Here are pics ranging from Cael in his suit, to who was there from the "3rd Floor NTT Po Pimps", to ESU alumni that was there to Cael before the ceremony playing. I know it's a lot of pictures but I finally had a chance to post so I did it! Now Cool Aunt Joy can't be mad anymore!! :)

Hello!?!?

I have gotten so bad about this posting thing. I have to get better! We really haven't been up to much lately. We did have our good friends wedding last weekend. Our friend, Travis Daniel, from ESU that Courtney lived with finally got married!! We kept talking about how strange it seemed for him to be getting married. There was a group of us that hung out in college - yes I was there too because I had no life of my own. Anyway - now all of the guys are married and most of them have kids. Travis was the last man standing....until now! The group was: Courtney, Travis, Aaron, David, Justin and John. They were very close in college and somehow managed to stay in touch after. So crazy to think it's been 9 years now since we were at ESU! Anyway, now the group is: Courtney, Kelly & Cael; Aaron & Teresa; David, Elba, Izzy & Grayson (to be born any time now!); Justin, Sarah, Bethany & 2 week old Raymond; John, Mary & Zeke and now we can officially add Travis & Elizabeth! Courtney & I knew Travis was serious about this girl when Cael was born. He brought her to our house in May before Cael was born when we all got together to say goodbye to John & Mary before they moved to California. Then on the day Cael was born he brought her to the hospital to meet him. We have a picture of the 3 of them together. Courtney was an usher in the wedding. He went to the bachelor party on Thursday (yes he was tired on Friday!) and then we went to the rehearsal & dinner on Friday. We were supposed to take Cael to mom & dad's for the night but...I ended up taking Cael to the Dr. before rehearsal. He had a spider bite on his hand. Poor thing had a puffy, fat, red hand. He needed medicine so Courtney waited around LV until it was ready. He called & said it wouldn't be ready until after 7:00 and rehearsal was at 6:00. So mom & dad came to the church & got Cael to take him to get his medicine. Then they waited at our house until we got home. It was very stormy that night so I took forever to drive home! I don't do well driving at night but when you add a storm into the mix it's TERRIBLE!! And of course Cael had his worst poopy diaper blow out EVER! Apparently he did it when they were in the Wal-Mart parking lot. It was all over his carseat - yeah the car smelled great! - all over him & when they went to put him in the tub it got all over the floor & rug! But it all got cleaned up and everything was fine. The morning of the wedding went fine. Actually it went like we hoped! Cael got up early enough that he was able to take a nap before we left for the wedding. Over the summer we bought him 2 suits. They had suits on sale at Penneys for $7.00!!!! They were originally $40 each and we paid $14. He looked so darn cute! Cael & I played in a play room while they took pictures and got ready. Then I got him dressed & tried to go to the wedding. Yeah, didn't work. Now that Cael walks & is talking he likes to do both. We are never bored and always tired! So Cael & Mommy found a far away hallway to sit & play in instead of going to the wedding. I was pretty upset that I didn't get to see the ceremony but oh well. When mommy duty calls you have to answer! The reception was at a really nice park. Luckily Cael got to play and be loud at the reception. I will post pictures in another post - I can hear my boy waking up from his nap now!

Yummy yogurt!

We have discovered Dannonino yogurt & it is the perfect size for Cael. He loves it! When he won't eat anything else he'll eat the yogurt. The other night I was feeding him & he wanted to do it himself. This is what happens when he feeds himself yogurt!

Cael's haircut

Mommy didn't think Cael needed a haircut but Daddy did. I found a place in Overland Park that is for kids so we went there. It's the cutest! They have DVD players at each station, a place to play games & their seats are cars. We were going to get a "1st haircut package" that included before & after pictures, a certificate, a haircut & the hair but when we got there we decided to just get a trim. The lady told us she felt bad doing the whole package when he didn't have much hair to cut! Plus the before & after pix wouldn't look much different. His hair is starting to grow in normal now (thank goodness!) but it is so light blonde! He did pretty good during his haircut. He fussed a little but it was because he had no idea what that strange lady was doing. He kept trying to touch the scissors & his hair & turn around to see what she was doing.

Fun!

I never knew my purse could be so exciting!

Cael is a mover & a shaker!

Football season is here!

This is what Cael did through the entire Cowboys game on Sunday. Last year when he was just a few months old he would watch football & cry when commercials came on. I guess it will be the same this year!

Updates

We'll start with Cael updates first. He is so wonderful! He has been sleeping very well at night. Mommy has been strong at night & if he starts to cry I turn off the monitor and let him go. He doesn't cry more than 5 or 10 minutes and then he's back to sleep. It's been so nice! I don't think I ever posted the video of him going up the stairs but for several weeks he's been crawling/walking up our stairs. He couldn't walk but he could go up the stairs. Well last week we were working on his walking. Normally he would go 4 or 5 steps in between us so last week we did the same thing but Courtney kept backing up. Cael kept following him. He ended up walking the entire length of our hallway!! So yes I now consider my son a walker!!! Yay!! He still crawls quite a bit of the time because he can't stand up on his own yet but when he is standing and he wants something he walks to it. I sent a video of it to Joy and she said he looks like a zombie! He walks with his hands out in front of him and he usually makes a funny noise while he walks. Oh well, at least he's walking!! I haven't recorded it on the Flip yet so hopefully I can do that this week & post it.

Miller. Poor Miller. The last post on Miller was a picture of his button ear. We finally got the buttons out & within 3 days he had cauliflower ear again!! We thought that wasn't supposed to happen after having the buttons. Ha! So 3 weeks to the day that he had his initial surgery he went back under the knife!! He only has 10 buttons instead of 12 this time. Poor guy has been wearing that damn cone on his head for a month now!! He has an appointment on Tuesday but Courtney doesn't think he'll get the buttons out yet. I hope he does but we'll have to see!

I start school with kiddos on Tuesday :(. Courtney still has another week off the lucky dog! Next weekend we were supposed to go play mud volleyball again but the game is Friday night & I have to work until 3:30 and then drive the 3 hours back home so I won't make it. If I go home Cael will be in the baby show at the Del-Fest on Saturday morning. If we go & he's in it I will definitely be recording it and taking tons of pictures which I will get posted as quickly as I can! Have a great week everyone!

Cael & Scout

Cael got the neatest dog for his birthday. His name is Scout. In his back in a USB port so you can hook it up to the computer & download things. One of the things you can download is the child's name. We were surprisingly able to find his name with the correst spelling. Now Scout sings songs with his name in them & every time you turn him on he says "Hi Cael". It's really cool & Cael loves it!

Driving Along in my Automobile....

We've already got him doing chores!

Sort of. One day Courtney was out mowing & I took Cael out on the deck to watch. He kept screaming "Da da!" So we went downstairs & Courtney came over and took him out for a spin. He seemed to have fun!

Good-bye Taco Wagon

I don't remember if I've even posted anything about this! In June when we were back in Minneapolis Courtney saw a mini van for sale. We drove it and liked it but we had to talk to the bank. We came home & talked to the bank & 2 days later we went back to Minneapolis and got our van. Yes, I am a mini van driving Mama....something I swore I would never be! I said I would never drive a mini van but now that I do I LOVE it!! We have so much space! It's nice for Cael too because he has more room & it's so much easier to get him in & out of it. Buying the van meant that we could sell a few vehicles & for the first time in several years be a 2 vehicle family. We decided to keep the Blazer for Courtney to drive. We put his car up for sale & 5 days later sold it. We put the Taco Wagon up for sale & it took a bit longer but we did finally sell it about 2 weeks ago. It was a sad day for us when it drove away because we've had it for 8 years now. I had been around that truck for a lot longer because it belonged to my dad first. Courtney loved that truck & took wonderful care of it. When we knew we were going to sell it Calvin suggested we take a picture of Cael "driving" it. Here are some pictures of Cael driving....watch out if you're on the road & you see him coming!!

I'm back!

I know for most people 2 weeks is no big deal. But for those of us who follow blogs it's a lifetime! I apologize to those of you, if there are any, that follow this blog for not updating it lately. Let's get a recap of the last few weeks.

Two weeks ago the Dill family came through Leavenworth & stayed with us. It was so nice to get to see them again. That's twice this summer which is more than in the last 2 years!! It was a quick visit. Miller had his surgery the day they arrived so we wanted to stick close to home to keep an eye on him. The next morning Kate & I had pedicures. It was a nice quiet time.

After that we've just been taking it easy. I've been tutoring all summer so I continued with that. Cael went to Minneapolis and spent some quality time with his Auntie Sharon for a few days. Courtney & I met her & Nicole in Topeka to make the hand off. He was there Tuesday night, Wednesday & Thursday and Courtney & I went to Minneapolis Thursday night. We were playing in a mud volleyball tournament at the fair that night. Yep you guessed it! We sucked! We actually didn't suck as bad as any of us thought we would so that was good. The first game we lost 15-8 but the second game was only 15-12. The next morning we got up & took Cael to have his picture taken. It will be his second time in the Minneapolis Messenger for the Future Leaders of Tomorrow edition. Last time his picture was taken he was 5 weeks old. Now it didn't run until he was 5 months old but still. This time he was 13 months old...we'll see how old he is when it comes out! I can't wait to get the picture back so I can post it - it is adorable!! We had to come back Friday night because Miller was supposed to get taken care of Saturday but if you scroll down a few posts you'll find out what happened.

Last weekend we went to my mom & dad's apartment for lunch with Aunt Sandi. Courtney & I took some time to go shopping. I have lost 12 pounds in the last month which thrills me!! Luckily Old Navy was having a sale for teachers - 25% off!! Woo whoo!! Mama saved over $100!!! This is the first time in 2 years that I've been excited about my clothes for school. Finally my maternity clothes are too big. Of course my pre-pregnancy clothes are still too small but I'm working on it. For those woman who bounce back to their old bodies just days or weeks after delivering....you make me sick!!! It has taken me a year to accept that my body is not the same & it is hard to get back to where I was but I'm getting there. I tried on clothes and bought several outfits for the start of school. Am I happy about how I look in them? Not really but I don't completely hate how I look either. And that is what I like to call progress!! Tomorrow I get to wear one of my new outfits when I work enrollment at school. Not really too excited about it but I get paid so I'll survive!

We haven't been doing much else. I've been tutoring. Courtney's been doing stuff around the house. Cael's been playing. The dogs have been lazy. I start back to work on Monday which doesn't thrill me but then again they didn't ask my opinion! Courtney has to go back 1 day next week & then he starts back I think 2 weeks later. They have to wait until the county fair is over. Must be nice!!

I will try to keep this more updated. Once school & sports start there will be more fun pictures of Cael I'm sure. Have a great rest of the week!
